making my system sound a little better

I'll post some pics later today, But i have a infinity perfect sub in a around 1cuf box, and im wondering what i can do to make it sound a little better. It seems like it hits a little too hard, like there is not much im between nothing and a hard (not nessarily loud) hit. anything i can put in the box or something?

also i have some MB quart QM speakers and i think they sound great but will some nice infinity's be beter?

Personally, I think the Perfect 10 sounds kinda "thunky" in 1 cu.ft. sealed.

I did a 1.4 cu.ft. ported box with mine. Was very smooth and extremely deep.

Check your high pass crossover points...should be no higher than about 120, better if about 100 (both at the typical 12db/oct)

Also, if you have a speaker out of phase, you will lose all midbass.

Sorry man..physic are physics. You can try stuffing it with pillow fill, (AKA Dacron) but rarely have I heard a significant change from doing that.

            Check those crossover points!

well i should be using the lo pass crossover points right?

I guess i might try taking off the connecton termnal thing to start to see what it would be like ported?

No, unless those are too low. I would go about 80hz. Turn your bass boost off, if your amp has one.

NO! A port is a carefully calculated tube, not just some random hole in a box. All you will accomplish is throwing your power handling out the door!

Why are you against a different box? Can you build? I would be willing to provide basic specifications. Anyone skilled witha table saw and has an air stapler can build one. If no air stapler is available, you can use screws, I just don't believe it is possible to screw without splitting the wood.

It's not like I haven't built hundreds of boxes...the hassle is why I charge a minimum of $200. Mine fit perfectly and perform amazingly...ask Jordan!

If the bass boost is up, then yea, you're going to have a peaky response...

I wish this trend of bass boost on the amps would end. Too much boost typically, makes crappy peaky boom.

Good for the deaf thugs, I guess.

                      Keep us posted.

Bass boost has a better ring to it than "Shelving Action Gain Centered at 45Hz".
