    A/C Question

I read somewhere, I think it was on some forum, that if the A/C wasn't charged, there was a sensor that wouldn't allow the compressor to turn on because it would burn itself out, or something along those lines. Is this true? The reason I ask is because ever since I've had my car, the A/C has never worked, and after going through some papers that the previous owner gave to me, I saw that the car had been charged with r12 in 2001, 2002, and 2003. Obviously there is a leak that has to be fixed, but when I was testing my a/c the compressor doesn't turn on and there is no power going to it. And yes, I checked all the fuses, and they are all fine.

    :(^SOLD^:(

Seems logical, but I don't know for sure.

yes. The A/C system has a low pressure and high pressure switch. If the freon is low, it wont turn on, and if it's overcharged, it wont turn on. Both of these switches are located on the reciever/dryer behind the passenger's side headlights.
