Today I was working on my radio which I never had working due to the fact I just bought the car(1991 318is). The radio is working as in it turns on and can search channels. Also I am getting 8 ohms to all speakers.only problem is there is no sound coming from the speakers. I found what appears to be an amp in the trunk but not in the usual position. It has one aux port, 4 electrical wires connected thats producing 12v, and a phone jack looking port on one side, and on the other a cable port. Here are some pictures of it. From what I have searched I have not seen one like this in a e30. Any ideas on what it is? Also any ideas on what that black antena thing is? Its connected to the cable port.

What you have there is an ancient cell phone brain. Yank it, every single inch of wire can come out.First, not all E30s have amps. Second, it is located (on sedans) in front of the antenna, under the trunk liner, inside the fender, on a bracket, held in with phillips screws.Today I was working on my radio which I never had working due to the fact I just bought the car(1991 318is). That same bracket also holds your check panel control relay, so go find it, then we can talk about what it is.Comment

Well, since you have the simplest wiring of any E30, Id guess either your deck or your speakers are shot.
Got a cheap little speaker to test the decks output?Comment

Speakers work, get continuity through all wires. Im assuming it's a bad deck. I have a alpine cm5908. Any way to have it fixed by bmw ?Comment
