I have a 1990 with v stock pioneer head unit. One of the rear speakers is blown, what are the best replacement. Willing to spend as necessary. No sub, may add in the future.
seems to be a claim that the e34 premium speakers are a good replacement.
I have a brand new set that i'm yet to install and validate peoples claims...
If you poke around, you will find a lot on here discussing this topic... but it seems to be true. If you think of it, most modern speakers are designed to run in door panels, allowing the speakers to have considerable volume behind the speaker. E30s are pinned in the kick panels, and may only allow .5' of space. I certainly do not know the Vas and Q numbers that support the idea, but it seems BMW considered this when choosing speakers.
I've put systems together for over 20 years, and opted to go with 4 of these with tweeters instead of everything else on the market. I back them with a good HU and quality amp, and they sound great.
Last I saw German Audio Specialties had one more 10" sub box... if I were you, I'd try to get my hands on that before worrying about anything else. Easily the best sub I've had in my car.
