    89 318is window question

    Hello r3v..first post
I live in the M Coupe S52 world, but am a long time BMW owner with many models.
Here is my question I just acquired a really cool unmolested 318is triple black no sunroof, I will probably sell. Both windows do not roll down, I have put a meter on it and it is getting power..however while I was cleaning it today I noticed broken glass on the drivers floor. So sure enough I looked at the glass stamp on the lower left drivers window..and of course it wasn't the same as the passenger window.... perhaps do any of your think it was a bad install from previous owner on the window install? That might be a prob?
Sorry for the long post, just perplexed that both don't work?

Thanks all! Its my 3rd E30...cool forum!!

Way to go, man, your first post is in the wrong sub forum....

Anyways, I'd check the fuse and where is it getting power? IIRC its fuse 17

edit; there's also that window lock button on the pass side of the center console

sort of impossible to install a window wrong. it may be getting power, maybe bad window regulators, and every car i buy has broken glass in it. tiny pieces, most windows get replaced at some point from a wreck or break in, so i would worry about that aspect.

sometimes their sezied and need to be smashed with a soft hammer. to get them to work, no joke

Also the window switches themselves go bad. You can take apart the switch and clean the contacts inside.
