    Radio Code

    Hi Folks,

I got an OEM radio from a salvage vert that I wanted to install in my e30. I went to the dealer and gave them the title to prove ownership and took the radio too. After some time.....he gave me a code. When I press the fifth digit, I get a beep, but "code" is still displayed.

Could someone verify the code for me.... or tell what I did wrong.. Thanks in advance

it is quite possible that the last pre-set button pushed doesn't work in the radio.
that happened to mine. i sent it in to factory radio service to be repaired or you have the wrong code?

Can someone clarify. If the buttons are working they should beep? The 4 on my radio doesn’t beep and I can’t get my code to work.

on mine. i have 6 buttons, they don't beep when selecting preset stations. when you save to memory they beep once.
they all beep when you enter the code though.
        hope that helps

Also, are you letting enough time pass before attempting to enter the code? You need to wait like an hour or something I think before entering the code. Go for a nice drive and when you come back, attempt to enter the code before turning off the car.

That's what worked for me at least after a few failed attempts and some searching.

I've never heard of this, but supposedly there are two ways of entering codes, maybe you need to try method 2. This is from a Bav Auto blog located here: https://blog.bavauto.com/3137/bmw-radio-security-code/

            1) Method 1 – If you have 5 or 6 memory keys , the code is entered in the order of the keys. In other words, if the code were 23241, you would push the 2 key, then 3, then 2, etc. If this doesn’t work you can try Method 2.

            2) Method 2 – In this case, the code is entered in succession on the memory keys. In other words (using the same code as above), key 1 is pressed two times, key 2 is pressed three times, key 3 is pressed two times …. etc.
