E30 Stock HeadUnit CM5908 and another in glovebox ?

Hi folks - really hung up on this: can I run two head units "tied" to the same 12v (live and acc)?

    Let me explain:
I have a stock CM5908 that I want to keep for aesthetics only. It works, but 3 of the 4 outputs pop and hiss (I could send it off to get fixed, but too pricey). Basically I want to keep it in place, and simply have the look (i.e. red lights work when on). Thats it ... no sound, no tape deck, nothing else. Just the lights.

I then want to rewire the existing speakers, grounds and antenna to a new head unit I'll hide in the glove box. Ridiculous, I know. Goal is to keep that modern headunit hidden away.

The speaker, grounds, antenna wiring would be simple ... just "reroute" to the new location.

What I don't know is how to tie this new HU to both the 12v live and acc feed, and the ground.

Can I simply splice off the stock, and I'm set ... having two units running off the same 12v (live and acc)?

Does this make any sense (hopefully this image helps)?
    Appreciate any insight ...
