New alternator or cap?

So, last night is the first time I noticed my lights/obc flicker on bass hits. I'm running 2 400w amps. One is 100x4 and not pushing anything near that amount (just pushing 6ohm tweeters, midrange 6.5" 2ohm, and two way 5.25" 4 ohm) while the other is 200x2 which I have running pretty hard (bench tested).

A modest usage calc is about 65 amps I suppose. I have an 86 325. What did these cars come with? I was getting the flicker at everything from 2000rpm to idle.

I may be able to get a cap from work, so this may be a non issue. Regardless, I'm wondering if my alternator is getting tired. I have not had any issues/haven't touched it since I got the car the end of 2002.

I'm going to check the brushes and replace if out of spec. Otherwise, I'll be putting in an upgraded alternator.
