e and i harness interchangeable?

I was just wondering if the car harness (everything directly wired to the fuse box -- cluster, headlights, driver door,check light console, etc...) was interchangable between and e and and i? ive got an 89 325i and I have the opportunity to pull one from an 87 325e. Need to know if its a waste of time before i do it. thanks.

I believe it is the same. The only difference is the engine harness. I am not positive on this though. When swapping from an e to an i engine, you don't have to change the harness, so...
