Intergrated PSP or Computer into my car? Suguestions.

Well after christmas I am going to start building up a system in my car after x-mas. I had a head unit but it got stolen so I am going to start over. My question is should I just put in another head unit, or should I go all out any try to intergrate my psp (which justs sits around), or buy a cheap mac mini g4 to put in it?

I listen to a lot music and it would be handy to have wireless net on the go with a psp or mac. Any suguestions or am I just out of my mind?

Also I am building a custom box for the trunk, and am going to do 2x 10's, what do you guys reccomend for a nice sound in the trunk. And what amp to pair with it. I was thinking like getting eclipse or JL subs.

I would bother with a Mac Mini G4, most of the carputer programs are windows, so it is defiantly worth while to get a Core Solo or Duo . You'll have so many more options and it will be alot faster.

OK, I cant tell by your typing, cause you seem to have no spelling or "carputer" skills but im assuming you mean don't bother with a Mac...

Don't post about shit you dont know about, not only do macs run windows aswell if you wish (and they run it better than pc's), but they are waaay faster and way better for this guys purpose, which is music and the internet especially. In today's world you can't even compare a mac to the piece of shit they call pc's... Window's sucks ass... everyone knows that... especially if you ever plan on using the internet

As for the subs... i like JBL but eclipse is nice aswell... also look into the JBL slash series for amps... very nice technology

I own a mac :) mini duo. And I've owned over 20 over models before this one. I'm a mac freak, and know them inside and out.

jcocker thanks for the advice on the subs/amps

An integrated PSP would be badass. Especially, since I just read that they are coming out with GPS navigation for them.

I'm currently considering building a carputer to have navigation.

I will get to work on it, on one of these long boring winter day. I even have a spare wiring harness lying around so I can hook it up with that that way I dont wreck my good one. :)

I've never thought about putting a Mac in my car, that's genius! Just think, get a wireless broadband card and a GPS receiver and rock some Google Earth... Talk about the ultimate in Sat Nav... Not to mention being able to run multipule programs at once, man that would be fun. You could limewire new music as you drive. :D

                    HAHAHAHA... Agreed...

Nobody will ever convince me that windows is even a half decent OS, it sucks... at everything it does, especially internet... I think it's great how more and more people are seeing the light, sure two weeks ago I did a presentation on Mac Vs. PC... it turned out great, since that i've had 3 of my class mates, and a TA come up to me asking about it because they want a mac now.

                    Good luck with your carputer

Not being a jerk, but i'm completely confused about all this. You're saying you want to integrate a computer into your car to replace the headunit? Why do you need wireless internet and a laptop to have music in your car?

no i will have a head unit + mac (comp.) + a screen.
my thoughts would be a 7" tft indash and a seperate screen built in the glove box, or something like a tablet screen that would sit in the box and pull out when needed.

I'm prob just gonna go the PSP route 1st, because there are more important things that I want to put into my car before that.

jcocker... Wow. That's all I can say... Wow.

You're a moron. You're saying a PC I build with better specs than a mac (remember, they use the same components now) will run windows slower? How is this? Please tell me. Don't forget that a mac looks the same inside as a PC. If you look past the pretty off white colors and the ads that make me puke a little in my mouth every time I see them, you'd see this as well.

So much about what you're saying is soooo stupid. Have you read a book or something? Fed of the ignorance of everyone else to make youself feel like a god? I don't understand how someone could be so off base and completely wrong about every statement.

To clarify, I'm not sure that jcocker meant that macs run Windows BETTER than PCs, but they run lots of OTHER things better and yet they can still run Windows ADEQUATELY. If that makes any sense to you, I understand you may have an issue with comprehension if you've been stuck dealing with Windows your entire life... :p

I like Macs because I don't HAVE to run windows, a program which I hate. Inside, yes, most computers are the same, but the software that is run on them makes all the difference.
