I like Macs because I don't HAVE to run windows, a program which I hate. Inside, yes, most computers are the same, but the software that is run on them makes all the difference.
Bingo.... It may have came out wrong earlier... but what fidhle is saying is my point... i realize that now that macs are running on intel they are basically the same. And yes, obviously If you NEED to run windows, which very few people need to do on a regular basis, clearly using a pc would be better.

But dude, you're getting a little too high strung about this... Sure go and build a pc with far superior specs... be my guest... but my macbook will still kick your ass when it comes to my music and pictures, and let us not forget the whole internet thing... how many times do you scan your computer for viruses??? once a week... cause i never do, and i dont have to worry about the shit...

Oh yes of course, the people with the macs are the ignorant ones who think they're god's... It's hilarious that you're stuck on the whole running windows on the mac, cause who the fuck would buy a mac to run windows only, nobody thats who... CAUSE WINDOWS SUCKS DICK AND IT ALWAYS WILL... People buy macs to get the hell away from that os, and most of them never go back.

And PLEASE tell me that you've at least tryed mac os, and you're not just blowing this shit out of your ass because you only use windows...

If so, tell us, because I'd rather not waste my time replying to an ignorant window freak...

Oh and what do you use on windows that makes you so passionate about the os anyways, I've never met anyone who actually defended it.

It's a lost cause, it's only purpose in life is to sop up all those viruses so I can enjoy my worry free internet usage.

Joe, don't get too far ahead of yourself. Macs will suffer from viruses and worms and other internet ailments, just not as often. Norton Systemworks is a REQUIRED part of every mac I own and it has saved my ass numerous times. While the amount of OSX viruses is very small, there are still viruses that can infect the files we run and cause problems that way, although having your computer crash every once in awhile is not as bad as having all of your personal information uploaded to some hacker's server so he can steal your idenity.

However, I laugh slightly when people brag about how great their Mac Pro is at pictures and music, because most people are VIEWING picture as LISTENING to music. As a semi-professional graphic artist and a professional sound engineer I see that like using a Bugatti Veyron to commute to work in. That said, I'd much rather commute in a Bugatti Veyron than a Fiat Panda...

Well said, and yes i obviously realize that we are not completely out of the woods with respect to viruses and shit, but with respect to windows users we aren't far off...

Do you use a mac pro? If so i think im going to have to find out where you work and steal it...j/k... those machines are beautiful.

My daughter has a $2400 Mac "portable". They don't call them laptops because they run so hot they'll burn your legs if you put them on your lap. Now that Gates has given away a gazillion dollars, there are far fewer PC viruses. As Mac's market share grows the malevolent types will start writing viruses for them. Especially if Apple doesn't get with the "green" recycling bit. It's been almost personal (anti-Gates) and definately anti-social with the virus writers. Jobs has been given a free ride for way too long just because Gates was the big target.
Having a computer in your car is even more distracting and pointless than a TV. Maybe one in the back of a kiddie hauler to keep the little ones occupied. They already have TV heads and Jello minds anyway. Let them watch You Tube.

This is exactly what im scared of... but until it does become an issue, I'll be enjoying my worry free internet...

I'll just always keep an up to date backup just in case shit happens...

I'm not passionate about windows at all. I think it's a poorly written OS that has been developed over many years (hence the poorly written part -- due to the hundreds of people that have worked on it). I just don't get why some people are so die-hard toward Macs. It's just an OS. A windows PC could just as easily do anything that a mac could if the software written to work on the OS is equivalent. Oh, and of course I've used them.

And the virus scan, never have to reboot thing is not an issue if you are half as great as you talk. I haven't ran a virus program on this laptop since I've had it, and I reboot only when I have to from a program install. If you don't go running around the net like an idiot; then you wont pick up viruses/spyware/etc.

And I've always been happy with photoshop for the picture editing on my comp. But I'm not big into the picture/video editing stuff. And I have a feeling 90% of the population isn't either (which is why apple needs to try to pick up a little broader reason for people to buy their stuff -- besides the amazingly awesome ads).

Oh, and work on your writing skills, otherwise people may think you're saying crazy statements:
...not only do macs run windows aswell if you wish (and they run it better than pc's)...
I see no reason that a mac should not run windows as well as a pc, and see no reason that a pc shouldn't run mac OS as well as a mac. Remember.. they are essentially the same inside now. No more of the crappy Motorola chips. Or is mac putting some kind of hardware key on the OS so you can only use it on a mac?

Anyway, it's a stupid argument. But for the mean time, I'm not going to spend all that extra cash for an operating system. Either way, I'm glad both of them exist and I hope macs share grows. It will only force windows to get better and keep the prices a little nicer for everyone.

Apple really does need to wake up and smell the coffee when it comes to pricing. Right now they have that "Elite Few" image but they'll have to compete sooner or later. That's when I'll actually BUY one. ;) So far all of my home computers have been obtained through other means, and no, I didn't steal them. The computer I write this one now is a lot like my E30 actually, it's an older G3 *gasp* that I use mainly for email and remixing. It's been modded a little but it's just kind of old and faithful. It's a far cry from the Mac Pro we have in the studio though, can you say E92 M3?

I don't really see how that has much to do with what we're talking about... it was a good read tho, and i agree completely... I'm afraid to admit that I'm probably one of those people who is very loyal, but for no concrete reason.

I don't see how their average would be with 55 year olds, if so, their software isn't exactly matched to the majority of their consumers. And sure, iTunes sales are falling, but i guess everything has to come off the crazy high they were on.

Once again, I don't think this is exactly what we are talking about, but still, good info.
