I've just finished restoring my '75 02 and I've already installed a new Alpine Head Unit (CDA-9857 if you care) with JL XR-650CXi Coaxials both Front and Rear.
The Rear Speakers are already mounted in the rear shelf but I need to mount the front speakers, problem being that they are too large to mount on the kickpanels or in the door. The only location they'll fit is on the sides of the center console.
The side of the center consoles are cheap vinyl covered particle board that BMW seems not to have taken great lengths to strengthen so I need to strengthen them.
Do you guys know how I would do this with either speaker mounts on a seperate board to backup the speakers?
On another note, when the speakers are installed they will be backed up almost against each other with about an inch of space between the magnets. Will this cause major distortion and can i prevent it by installing some DynaMat between them?
Thanks for any help guys.
Dylan
