easiest way to tell if speaker is blown?

whats up guys... did a quick search and didnt find the answer i'm looking for, and secondly i'm an electricity noob so that might be the problem (well, i know some common sense stuff but i've always hated circuits and wires so yea...)

my left rear speaker isnt working... hasnt been working for a lil while now but since its nice out i feel like working on my car and want to fix it.

its an aftermarket sony xplode speaker the prev owner put in... i took it out, connection seems fine with the exception of a pretty good fold in the one wire which i guess could be a culprit of the circuit being cut and thus why my speaker no worky...

i tried to just switch speakers to see if it was the speaker or the wires, but on both one wire connector is easy to take off, the other is an absolute bitch and doesnt want to budge without breaking - so i didnt do it.

so my question to you guys is... what do you think is causing the problem, and what the f should i do about it?

oh and fyi, my budget is a whopping $0. i will suffice with one speaker if need be.

    TIA!!

hook up a 9V battery (or whatever you have) to the speaker terminals on the battery. You should see the cone of the speaker move and hear some static. If you don't, then the speaker is shot in one way or another. If you do, check your wiring and the such.

thanks brother... i kinda went out after i posted and didnt wait long for a response haha

i wound up sliding the one connecter off carefully with the help of a screwdriver, so i was able to switch the rear speakers to see if it was the speaker or the wires - and thankfully it was the wires.

long story short... the problem was behind the head-unit. one of the wires came loose a while back when i had take the head-unit out a couple times contemplating on putting another one in.

after fixing the problem, i then proceeded to rock out like nobody's business:firehop:
