is this good placement for a sub?

If you want nice sounding, keep your eyes open on Ebay for some ADS 325is component speakers. I have a set that are about 15 years old now and I will never sell them! I will probably put them in my E30.Originally posted by Simon SWhen a dream is a dream for too long - it becomes a fantasy..

i dont see what else you would need or want to do. the speaker is in the airspace as you are sitting. there is no wall of metal between you and it (the speaker). if youre looking for more output, change your amp. if you want it cleaner, go to a sealed 10 with more power to it. you need to clarify what youre trying to acheive.Slightly OT, yet could prove useful to some of us:
I noticed that what you said perained to "any sedan or coupe." How would you change your recommendation for us guys with tourings? I currently have a sealed-box 12" sub that is firing upwards; is there anything I can do to improve the effectiveness of this setup, assuming I will not change the box?Comment

I have 3 ADS amps, 4 ADS Subs, ADS Crossovers, ADS equilizers, two 6.5" ADS Speakers, ADS tweeters, and much much more (all ADS). all of it is sitting in my basement collecting dust. let me know if you want anything guys. I had a 20,000 (at the time. receipts to prove) stereo system in the trunk of my e30 the PO installed. my trunk is now gutted and I have a radio blank in my dash.1989 Bronzit 325ia- Sold

Pardon me, if I steal thread, but since Luke has given good pointers here...
Let's think that I'd have a "thrid phase bandpass enclosure"(sorry english is not my first language and these terms are complex), like the element would not be between the airspace and enclosure, but between too enclosures, which both have reflex tubes to airspace.
This enclosure would be in e30 trunk and those reflex tubes would come into cabin troght the rear shelf.
Would that sound doable ? Would it work properly? Would it be worth the effort?Current:

So what do you want to improve? The box is the single most important part of any system. You could swap to a different sub, add more power, whatever...likely to be tiny changes at best, likely none at all!Slightly OT, yet could prove useful to some of us:

Think of a sedan/coupe as 2 boxes on a set of wheels. Add a subwoofer and it becomes 3 boxes. A hatch or wagon, pickup, van, whatever (fuck you very much Mr. M30-powered-can't-even-SEE-much-less-drive-in-the-US-Touring) is only one box, or two with subwoofer.
The basic deal is to try and turn three boxes into two.
Unless you LIKE booming the outside world...

I think he meant 325is or 325es speakers as in the two different E30's.
And, no, they are not different. All E30 "Premium Sound" speakers are the same.
ADS was NOT bought by Orion. Both ADS and Orion were bought by DEI, biggest cocksucking whores this side of Alpine.
The classic old ADS sound is what you guys want, give me a minuite. I have a new midbass design coming that should sound just like the old 325is mid, but with better power handling. The tweeter will be similar sounding, but with a bit more life....and TONS more power handling.
Rocla, the big issue is finding a woofer that works in a bandpass design. The marketing departments have forced everyone into thinking that the only way to good sound is a 2,000 watt amp and tiny sealed boxes. The woofers that work like that do NOT perform in a bandpass design.Let's think that I'd have a "thrid phase bandpass enclosure"(sorry english is not my first language and these terms are complex), like the element would not be between the airspace and enclosure, but between too enclosures, which both have reflex tubes to airspace.

Unfortunately, that same issue applies to what I like for subwoofing...a large ported box. Tuned low, large porting. Clean as hell, loud, low, detailed (that is why almost all well respected home subs are large ported boxes) excellent power handling, but don't need a ton of power to get loud.
Give me a clasic old CV, Becker, Peerless, Morel or Focal woofer anyday.

It was like 15 years ago, I remeber a kid few years older than me had 2 15" CV strokers in his e21, I remeber it being loud as hell. The whole car resonated very much and he had practicly no trunk, but it seemd very cool to 16 year old kid with burning desire to build cars.Current:
