    Brake light problems

My brake lights are stuck"ON" any thoughts as to why? fuses are good, bulbs (obviously good)

There is no difference if the brakes are applies or not, they don't dim, flicker or go out, they are just always "ON"

    Any help will be appreciated...

Your brake light switch is probably stuck closed or internally shorted out.

If you remove your knee bolster and look on the arm of you brake pedal, you will see the switch. Make sure the button on the switch is not stuck in. If not; then unplug one of the two wires from the switch and see if the brake lights go out.

You can check for a short in the switch by checking for continuity between the two terminals with the switch off (brake pedal not depressed). If you get continuity, then you need to replace the switch.

Just noticed you're in the boro. Cool.

I was wondering if there was a switch under there somewhere, I had an old pick up that did the same thing, thank you for the help.

You may also note that it may not be a bad switch, but that the mount has broken. On the switch, it is held in by two retaining clips that often break. This makes it nearly impossible to get the brake lights to turn off.

Also note that when the rod is out, the brake lights are on, and when its in, they are off. Thus, it can't get stuck 'in' or else the lights would never come on. Most likely a bad switch or broken mounts.
