in my opinion thats probably the dumbest place to mount it unless your never going to put anything in your trunk.
let me put a suitcase in there and see how long the sub lasts. it clearly open to everything and waiting to get hit.

Sure if you keep it that way. The box comes out if I want to and there is a cover that is built to protect the system if I had to put dirt or brick in the trunk but I really do not use my trunk and its fine for me!
