Can someone with a V1 do this for me?

I'm too cheap to buy the hardwire kit for my V1, I didn't have any cat3 laying around either, so I wired 2 pins from a cat-5 cable into a rj-11 connector (center 2 terminals) as thats what is typically used for power and ground on a phone.

Can someone with a hardwire kit confirm that this is correct?

it is just a power and a ground, wiring a normal phone cable up to the car's pre-wired electronics is working fine. Just find something thats constant 12V while the car is on and is dead while the car's off and you're set.
