dash cluster guage problems i need help

my cluster is playing with my gas guage. i dont know if its full or empty half the time. i changed the fuse in the fuse box (i redid the whole thing with the right fuses)

i heard a couple SI theorys from friends but i am not trying to romove the cluster until i went through all other possible reasons.

I would say just replace the batteries. I was alittle afraid to break something when I first took my cluster out but it was extremely easy. Unless, someone can varify this, the gas gauge doesn't have a battery then there is probably no point of taking the cluster out.

i soldered a jumper wire onto my cluster and eliminated the SI board all together (granted it had battery acid and missing lights) but my gauges started acting (more) normal after that...ill see if i can dig up the pic of where to solder the jumper

I had all sorts of problems and replacing the si board did nothing for me. Your probably going to have to buy another cluster. In my case I tried everything else before replacing the cluster and nothing happened.

It could also be a fuel lever sender problem and not a cluster.

But if you dont have experience removing the cluster, you could actually break it. You might be better off popping the back seat and pulling the send unit to see if the float mechanism is working properly.
