This will be for the trunk of the e46. I will be using the stock business system, 10" unknown brand 400rms 4ohm woofer, Crossfire Tec75.2 (should be about 300rms@4ohm) running on hi-level inputs. I guess you could say I listen to rock and I hate rap. I don't know what size box and what freq to use.

You have to know the sub to know what the perfect size of the box is.
But without knowing, and assuming this sub is designed for the normal market, I'd build at least a 1 cubic foot enclosure and probably keep it around that for rock.
Frequency? It will take your ear to determine what you like, but I'd set the crossover around 100Hz.

You know I just remembered-back in 2000 right after I bought my 323Ci (looks just like yours as a matter of fact) I had a nice system installed in mine. I had a box built for the E46 coupe that held one 10" sub with about 1 cubic foot of space on the left side, that fired towards the passenger side. However, it fired into somewhat of a slot, and that slot was opened so that you knocked out the ski pass behind the rear armrest and the bass came straight into the cabin. The right side of the box had an area for a couple of amps (I had an ESX Quantum 275.1 (?) and a McIntosh MC222 in there) with a fan for cooling at the top.
It worked very well, but took up a bit of space and is fairly heavy-I would guess at least 50 pounds or so. And the thing is-I still have the box. Shipping it would be a pain, but if you might be interested I might could find a picture of it somewhere.
I took it out within a year after I got in on a group buy for JL Audio E46 stealthboxes that more than met my needs, freed up trunk space, and saved a lot of weight.Eric Giles

There are few things more expensive than a cheap BMW...

My car looks a good bit different now. I shaved the sidemarker holes, painted the bumper, lowered on H&R sports, and got some fogs. Shipping on the box might be kind of high but if you want to check my zip is 30507, check Fedex and Greyhound, they are the cheapest. I have no problem building a box as my dad builds houses for a living and has piles of leftover wood and like 20 different saws. I wanted to build something small and light since my car is already slow enough.sigpic
