Hi. My e30 carries the standard 6 button OBC. How hard is it to install a 12 button OBC? Thanks.

easy enough. All you absolutely need is the actual 12 button OBC with the correct coding plug for your car and the harness that runs from the cluster to the unit. It's very simple.
You can add the code function if you want (cuts the ignition if you set it) but it's not as easy to do. You can also add the turn signal switch (push on the end and it cycles through the functions) without much hassle. You just need the switch as well if you go this route.

Does not matter which car it is if it came with the 6 button then it will not have the harness in place for a 13 button. Thats why in the right up it says you need the harness as well to do the conversion. along with correct code plug for you car. and then the options if you want to go with them as well

Somebody might like to save this bit of trivial tachometer coding plug information.
Some coding plug numbers (printed on the long tab of the coding plug) from the TIS:
06--E30 eta
19--E30 super eta (1988 ) (Note: my MotoMeter super eta cluster didn't have a coding plug)
17--E30 325i/ic/ix/iS
12--E30 M3
11--E28 528e
18--E28 528e super eta (1988 )
14--E28 535i/is; also 635CSi and L6 up to 1988; E23 735i/L7
13--E28 M5; also E24 M6
20--E24 635CSi 1988 and later

Digging up the past...
So i did (as mentioned on r3v tech) an OBC swap.
Threw out the clock and religiously followed the instructions here.
Didnt istall the code function cause when i did the car didnt stop running.
Started the car OBC reads fine (no code flashing) but when i turned the key and removed it the motor was still on!!
Next thing i changed the cluster with a one that shows the instant consumption under the r3v gauge.
The problems are
1)i have no reading from the consumption indicator.
When the motor is off the indicator shows 0 litres/100 km and when it is running it tops out, at the end right corner
2)the obc mileage is all the way up to 39.5 litres/100kms
3)as a result of the (1) and (2) mentioned above the function that shows how many kms i have with the gas in my tank is far away from the real.
The car is an E30 born with a 1600cc carbed M10 and later swapped a 320i, euro model, production date 4/1987.
Did i connect something wrong?
When i plug in the diagnostic in the faults section it ALWAYS says << no speed signal >> or something like that, but my speedo works fine.
Is there any problem with the speed sensor?
Any help?Originally posted by scabzzzzPlastic bumpers eat a chrome dick!
