    system fired up

everything work and it sounds great.

my only issue is why can i turn on the system even the key is not in the ignition? i connected the ignition lead to the constant 12V. if i connect the ignition lead to the acc lead the system won't turn on even with the car running. what did i do wrong? also, i wired the illumination with the cars illumination wire but the head unit illumination doesn't dim when i dim the dash lights. i used this color codes

    RADIO to AMP
    Wire Function Wire Color
    Accessory 12 Volt VT/GY
    Constant 12 Volt RD/WT
    Chassis Ground BN
Power Antenna & Remote Amp Turn On WT
    Illumination GY/RD
    help please...:(

i'll do that. it seems there's no power coming from the purple/grey wire (acc 12V). if i can get this to work then i should be fine and i can crimp everything.

i also went to my local car audio installer and they told me not to mount the amps on bare metal.

        thanks all

I would just cut a piece of 3/4 mdf or plywood, carpet it, and mount that to the rear firewall. That will give you a nice surface to mount the amps.

maybe one of the ignition sensor wires went bad, or it might be grounding somewhere.

There is absolutely no reason to mount amps to "bare metal" or not...no difference in any way.

Why would it matter? Your amps are not circa 1985, there is no chassis ground on them, so you can mount to whatever you want.

If you want panels, make panels. If you don't, don't.

The point is, anyone telling you to "not mount to metal" is full of shit. I say mount them securely, no matter what.

Go get a testlight. You have a bad fuse. Quit fucking around.

hahahahha!!!!!!!11 good to know about mounting the amps. i'm just trying to get my car together so i can autoX on saturday. I'll eventually get the rear firewall cover and clean things up. I just want my car back together.

Thanks again guys for all the help. I'll post pics when i'm done. i really love the amber lighting of the CDA-7894. too bad it only has Bass Engine Plus.
