Recomend a sub and amp for my useless ass

I think i might have found someone local to take me under there wing and help me audio my car.

you guys have and recommendations for an amp and sub setup? i'd like to keep it under a $300 budget with wiring

I am thinking a single 10 on a 1 channel amp. i listen to everything form rock to rap to reggae to 80's dance.


any thoughts?

i bought a basslink used in craigslist for $150. its powered already and sounds good. i installed it myself on my jeep.

While the BassLinks are a simple install, for the money, you'd be better off building a box and running a 10" with an amp. You'll get a lot more sound for the money this way.

I don't have any recommendations however. Maybe hit up a few pawn shops near by and see if you can find something.

correct. basslink is not for those looking for more bass, but only for those who are looking to have something that sounds good or for clarity if has matching component speakers.

Greg, I can ship you a high quality single 10" sub, all the wiring you need and a good quality 280 watt (RMS) amp for under $300.

If you can build a box to my EXACT specs, you will be absolutely amazed at what you get. You will need access to a decent table saw, wood glue, and half a sheet of 3/4" MDF, a jigsaw, some 4" PVC tubing and an an elbow.

All hardware store stuff.

Or, for about $500, I will ship you the box, amp and sub ready to install.

You will have to supply a single piece of 1/4 masonite and half an hour with a jigsaw to make the pretty looking back panel. You will also need 1 can of spray glue to attach the material I will ship with it.

Get a 12", you will be so much happier. if you want a killer system for around $500. get a 12" kicker solobaric(square) L5($125. a phoenix gold amp 650rms for $190, build a box for 50, wiring for 30.

I got for sale 2 10' MTX and an 1000 watt amp, will blow out the windows, u interseted?

if not get mtx cheap but good, and pioneeer amps are good, i work at best buy and I back every thing i suggest, also try poweracoustik they are cheap but good

I used to have 2 kicker 15' solo-barics L7's with 2 kicker zr1000 amps,and 2 lightning audio 1 farad caps with a optima red top battery,used to hit hard as hell and never ever blew out any windows.;)

MTX can suck my dick. As for blowing out windows with 1000 watts from MTX, you wish. I had a Resonent Engineering MT 18 with 2600 watts going to it in a 5 cubic foot box and didnt come close to "blowing out the windows". The only way 2 10s will do anything close to that is with 2 10 inch Digital Design 95xx series. Poweracoustik, also garbage. Best Buy requires no actual training to work in install or sales for car audio, I'm not sure if this guy is trained but I'm saying. Listen to StereoInstaller. Exile is really good and semi-new to the market. Check them out.

shoulda dropped the caps, they dont do anything. Its a common myth that they help your system. Unless you are in db drag, they aren't helping you, just making an extra load on your alt. Other than that, shoulda been pretty loud


EDIT:: end rant! sorry bout getting all excited. This stuff pushes me over the edge sometimes, lol
