    Rattel-Can MDF?

I have some MDF (3/4") I am using on a project - Want to spray paint the stuff. The edges are a pain (it's like trying to paint a stack of napkins, it just soaks up the paint.)

Best I can figure is do 3 or 4 THICK coats of primer first. Any other advice?

Why not just cover it in carpet?

If you're set on paint, I would either try primer first, or just heavily saturate it with paint. Not really a whole lot you can do. If the cuts are clean and sanded, it will take paint easier.

You can also mix up a little fiberglass resin or bondo and hit the edge. That will keep the paint from wicking in.

Bondo or spot putty, whichever you have more of.

When doing things in paint where the edge shows, or gets painted, I cut a 45 degree angle piece off, rotate it 180 degrees and re-attach using a cabinet stapler and glue, thus showing a tiny seam vs. a full butt.
