So I'm stuck at DisneyWorld for a week long meeting, and decided to let Luke "do work" on the new schwarz. The car currently has a bad or shorted OEM tape deck with a hokey JVC CD changer, and an ancient Viper alarm system with a mind of it's own. So Luke is re-doing the wiring for me, and should be able to put some pics up as he works to share the excitement.
Work list is long, and Luke has other work to do, so this might take a while but should be operational before the meet on the 22nd.
From what I can remember this is the system:
-Alpine 9885
-Exile XP 6.5" components I think, luke's going to have to mold the sail panels around the tweets to make it work, plus cut the stock openings for the 6.5's
-Delete rear speakers
-Titanium 2-way amp for fronts, Titanium monoblock for the single 10" sub being enclosed in sealed custom made box to fit trunk.
The box is the biggy and the amps will be mounted to steps on either side of the sub.
While he's at it, I'm having him take out the viper alarm, wire in the sytek keyless, install george graves relay while he's in there, and wire up the analog clock.
When you're 30 years old you might pay someone to do this work too. I wrench everything but openly admit the wiring makes me anxious and would rather have someone with magic wire crimpers do it for me. No flaming, I work hard for my money and wiring isn't rewarding to me nearly as much as wrenching on the greasy bits -- ergo, I'll pay to have it done right.
I'll leave this thread open for Luke to post pics as he comes along. In fact I'd like him to to make an example of what low/mid-budget stereo can do in an e30. Too many people talk about grandiose schemes, but when it comes down to it few (kencopper comes to mind) actually put their $$$ to the test. I have complete faith in Luke and welcome the opportunity for him to showcase his skills in a real-world (read real-money) scenario.
LUKE, GET TO WORK AND POST PICS! :-) I'm bored and the "Fabulous" Dolphin and Swan resort in Orlando is hot, muggy, the room service is highway robbery, and this glass of scotch cost me $11.g
