    E24 Install?

Out of curiosity, I might be buying an E24, '86 635CSi soon and was wondering if anyone has done a system on it yet. I read around on the 635 forums (bigcoupe and bimmerforums) and it seems the speakers are oddly sized 4x6 speakers.

There's also limited mounting depth on them in the factory locations, not to mention they're located kind of high.

Has anyone done an install on one, and if so, what'd you do for front speakers? I'm looking at installing a set of Polk Audio SR series components and wondering if it was possible.

I have done several E32s, back in the late 80's/early 90's.

Unfortunately, i smoked pot daily for about 20 years, so I cannot remember just what I did. I am sure a set of 5.25" components will fit just fine.

    With some cutting, of course.

Any idea how hard it'd be to make a kick panel or put the woofer in the door?

Anything is possible, but the end result will greatly depend on how far you want to go into modifications of your vehicle and sacrificing visual appearance. I managed to fit 6.5" in my e28 without any cutting. I would've done things different if I didn't have to park at the train station parking lot everyday.

Check www.bigcoupe.com and search for this stuff, there have been some SUPER clean installs.

My only advice is not to do something that requires much if any modification to the car as E24s are going up in value and are definitely destined to become desirable and collectible classics.
