    Alpine CDA-9835 w/ Alpine CHA-1214 changer troubles

Alrighty, I am starting to finally get fed up that my cd changer isn't working properly with my HU, and obviously I don't know the problem. The problem I am having is that whenever I switch my input to the cd changer, sound comes through, but at full volume regardless of where the volume is set. For this reason I haven't even trying to use it lately. IIRC, I can move the volume up and down with no effect, its not that when I switch to it it gets stuck wide open, it just plays as loud as it can no matter where the HU's volume bar think's it should be.

Both are obviously alpine, and use AI-Net. When I installed the HU a while back I made sure that I switched on the AI-net function. I suppose if I didn't it may not play at all though.

Does anybody have any idea what may be causing this problem? Anything will help. Thanks.

When you say you switched on the AI Net function, what do you mean?

There is a switch on the outside of the chassis that allows you to use external processors. It sounds like you have that switched on, it needs to be off....

I was going to check into that switch again but, its been so long I don't remember which way it is now. That would make sense though if I accidentally thought norm meant no Ai-Net. That is the switch I was talking about too. I'll check tomorrow. I thought I had made sure which was the right setting so I'm leaning towards it being set on norm, but I do have my doubts now. That would be a rather stupid mistake if that really is the case.

            Default is "norm".

If you switched it, put it back.

            Ask me how I know...

Gee, imagine that. It was in the wrong position. Now the audio sounds better too from my speakers too. At least from the CD changer over what the deck was like before, I haven't tested if it is different with a CD in the deck too, but I wouldn't see why it would be any different. I guess it was thinking it was supposed to be regulated by an external equalizer, and looking at the CD changer made it stupid.

justin, please have Luke tune your stereo/amp when you are up there next year. your system has potential to not sound like a set of headphones sitting on the dash turned all the way up. LOL
