Clifford alarms - are they currently good?

So I might be looking to replace a 5 year old Alpine - I am drawn towards Clifford as I've had good luck with a Millenia & a Solaris, but they aren't current models.

Anyone here have a current generation Clifford & if so how do you like it? Which model do you have?

I'm especially looking at the Matrix, but general knowledge of what the quality these days is would be helpful. All I know is Directed bought them, but I don't know if that means they are better or worse.

It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.

Hey man...you know I only carry one brand of alarm on purpose.

Regardless of price, I have less issues with Scytek than any other.

I have been looking at Clifford systems here locally, Nebraska Furniture mart is the only place that I know of here that sells them and they dont carry any of the Matrix line???? But I am uncomfortable because they have to install it because it requires a code that they have to get directly from Clifford or so they say. And half of my wiring is fubar in the drivers side footwell from a fire that resulted from an inproper installation of the last alarm system.

Stereoinstaller care to enlighten me on scytek? I am looking for a remote unlock and lock with and an alarm with some sort of sensors?

I beleive the car security business was all baught out by 2 companies years ago. Most car alarm systems either fall into Directed Electronics ( which would be : Viper , Clifford, Hornet..... ) or Prestige ( audiovox, Code alarm , ....)

so ur either falling into 1 of these 2 groups. i have the top model from both companies on both my cars. Viper is much more expensive than my prestige, about double the price. to me they both seem the same. They say the viper ecu is more reliable than the prestige, but prestige has a longer transmitter range.

I have a Matrix on my E36, I like it a lot! It won't go off for a stupid loud cars driving by. I have the one with the paging system it is a cool feature but it goes thru batteries pretty quick. I haven't had a problem with since I bought. If I had a chance I would by it again.
