    Head unit wiring

Alrighty, searched the forum about stock head unit wiring and everybody said just to rewire the whole damn thing. What if someone wanted to just use the stock wires for the time being and then later rewire it? Where could I find a wiring diagram so I can get my stereo working with my new aftermarket headunit for the time being?

Really, you have to rewire everything because the stock head unit uses an external amp. It's a PITA, but it's necessary. Invest in a Bentley repair manual, the money it will save you makes it worth the $45-$50.

Mine didn't come with the premium stereo. I've located and wired all speakers I just need to know what color wires are ground, power, power antenna and the like. Wiring the speakers wasn't a problem.

So you did rewire all the speakers, right? Reason is not because people are money spending BMW owners, but because the common ground system the E30 uses will fubar aftermarket headunits.

Here's the tech article. Thank Ryan Stewart.
