    Testing an Alarm Siren??

I have a viper alarm that I bought from another member on the forum. I called a place that sells them and he will install for $100. He said though that sometimes the sirens don't work and if they don't I still pay $100 and $219.99 for HIS alarm and keyless (if I want)

So I have a pic of my alarm siren. Is there any way I can create a pulse or a sound with it so I know it works?

    There are 4 wires...
    2) copper wire..1 red, 1 black
    2) silver wire...2 black

The picture shows what I am talking about

Here are some of the things that I am considering

    Mine:
    Older
    1 key thob
could be bad and waste $100 to have it put in

    His:
    Brand New
    lifetime warranty
    2 thobs
    $219.99

ORRR..when Luke gets back to me one of the Scytek ones, thing that scares me about this option is I don't like messing with wires, I always feel like a professional knows what to do and I don't, and if he messes up its his fault. I need something that is good for a vert. Most alarms, hopefully, will tell me if my window is getting broken into but verts, I see as alittle more "easily" accessible. So is there some other feature that I should consider.

Maybe I am over reacting but I don't want my head unit to get jacked again without me beating the living piss out of the person that tries to run away with it.

Copper wires to power and ground.

The two little ones were orig. a jumper loop for a soft chirp feature.

Mastercruise - I'd make a proximity sensor near the top of your list, since the whole "top down" scenario is possible.

That said, you sound like you want a 2 way alarm.

You might want to rethink that.

I've got a concealed carry permit, and at the least I have a small 9mm on me almost all the time.

My point is that if you knew when you got your car tapped, and you went to confront the thief, you probably will snowball the situation into an event were someone is going to the hospital. I had to review my state statutes, but in reality unless someone is in my residence I'm looking at criminal charges if I shoot them.

My rational now is that if I get carjacked - fine. If I get my wallet stolen on the street - fine. Unless someone is looking to end my life or if they are obviously drunk/high to the point that they aren't acting somewhat in a professsional manner as they trying to take my stuff, then the gun stays put.

If they are looking to end my life, then it's time to stop them first.

Besides, what if you are in the middle of a ballgame at the stadium & your alarm remote pages you? Do you really want to bother with something in the middle of the game when realistically the thief is long gone before you get to your car?

We all think it sounds like good clean steet justice to beat a thief senseless, but real world I just think someone ends up shot & possibly dead - and it isn't the crook 100% of the time. All over a car stereo no less. Is that really worth it then?

I dunno, I thought about the 2 way alarms for a while, and that was the conclusion I drew.

It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.

I do have the same views as you on the weapons. If I feel threatened with my life I will have to take action before he does, I am going through my CCW class at the moment. I over reacted but I wouldn't just let the guy go, I would confront him and definately get my shit back. I don't plan on using them, no one should PLAN on using deadly force.

I want something that will protect my car or at least tell me, which you brought up a good scenario. If the guy got it alright but I was 2 floors up from my with my window down, I could literally spit on my car from my window. So I want to know the next time.

You might want to modify your last sentence. I personally know when I would completely, and remorselessly kill someone without hesitation. I DO plan to use deadly force & will accept jail time, etc if there is a real threat on my life. If you go to court because you shot some dude who you caught stealing your stereo you won't have much of a leg to stand on, sadly. Maybe Texas, but I know I don't in WA. Just take some time & mentally draw your own line that means when you show someone your gun. If you have that line drawn beforehand, you won't hesitate when you need it. And if it comes out, use it. Don't try to change someone's mind by waving a gun. That gets you shot by others, or the criminal. Waving guns is TV bullshit.

I might sound mentally unbalanced, but it was advice I got from a friend who does classes locally for hunting licenses. I went with it.

I guess that's why I decided against a 2 way alarm. I'd sure be tempted to ventilate some prick thief, and I'm not sure I have the willpower not to.

No I understand where you are coming from. My last sentence is alittle weird sounding. I meant, if you are going to use deadly force it has to be the last option, for me that is but I don't go into a confrontation with my gun drawn.

If I am going to use it, it better be for a good reason but 99.99% of battles shouldn't have a gun drawn. Hopefully that clears it up that I don't "want" to use my gun but if need be I will as the last resort.
