Should I get a new Factory Amp??? Help.

When I bought my e30 it came with stock speakers, stock head unit, and stock CD Changer in the trunk. The only problem was that the whole right side of the car does work. I can only hear on the left side. This leads me be believe that I should just change the factory amp located in the trunk by the antenna. Am I right? will that fix my problem? Im pretty sure that the speakers arent blown because its the whole passenger side that doesn't work. It may sound like a stupid ass question but thanks for any input.

I would pull the stock deck and swap speaker wires to test.

If the issue stays the same, bad amp.

If the problem follows the switch, bad deck.

kinda off, but, if I'd want to rewire the whole sound system, how much would that run? (all the wires+whatever else I need, not including amp/speakers/deck)?

bmw already uses hefty wires. why do you want to rewire? unless your running high end components that come with a massive crossover i would leave the factory wiring. if you had a toyota or honda i'd say go for it.

Do you mean rewire the stock system? Honestly, I wouldn't bother. You would be better off getting an aftermarket head unit, eliminating the factory amp and running new wire from the HU to the stock speakers. This will be simpler and better sounding.

For even better sound, get an aftermarket amplifier to power the stock speakers. Luke says they sound great when amplified (assuming they are in good shape, many are).

As far as the stock CD changer interfacing into the new HU, you'd have to ask someone else as I'm not familiar with the CD changer and how it is hooked up. Many HU have a CD changer input, but I'm not sure what kind of output the CD changer has.

Rewiring the system isn't a matter of wire size, or personal preference. If you have a aftermarket headunit you are using to power the interior speakers you will burn it up using the stock wiring. The premium sound system uses a common ground. You need to run new wire to each speaker.
