Requesting Help on an Early Model Head Unit Removal

The title of the thread pretty much states it all. I picked up an '87 Eta on the cheap for a daily driver which has a head unit that I have yet to encounter in my varied E30 ownerships (yes, plural). I just want to know the easiest way to remove this unit, as I do not see the typical inputs for a hex key on the side, without resorting to brute strength or possibly damaging my HVAC panel.

I'm gonna start off by saying that I've never dealt with a shaft style BMW radio before .

But having said that ...let me add that shaft style radios are always secured by fastening nuts that are hidden under the 2 knobs .
The knobs should just pull straight out and then removing the covers underneath will reveal the securing nuts .

That will let you push the radi back into the dash then you can remove the panel that it over the DIN opening .
