    Help! Lost power to deck

I installed a sub system and as I was going to set the deck back in the dash it went dead and now I can't figure out what happened.

I've got a loose grey/red wire coming from the car but can't figure out where or if it connects to anything. Everything else seems fine. I'm unsure if there might possibly be a loose connection further into the wiring because it did flash off/on/off as I was moving the deck into place.

    Any help?

Ok figured out that the grey/red wire is the accessory light so it was capped off by itself. I was able to get the deck to power on by connecting the ignition (from deck) to constant (from car). The ignition (from car) seems to be loose and not working, so unfortunately unless someone has some advice I may have to pull my entire dash.

Bigger problem: Now my speedo isn't working. Agh! That shouldn't be connected to anything I was touching, but now I'm thinking there must be a couple loose wires somewhere.

OK, man...here ya go. Download your entire factory electrical manual here:

You should be able to find what fuse you blew pretty easily.

Ok i have a question, this is actually really old but this made me remember it, is there any reason why after 4 months of happiness with my Pioneer 6800, this was this past April, driving down the street it would shut off but my music continued playing but the screen and all the lights went off, i couldn't turn it on, nor shut the music off. but i shut the car off and turned it back on and it was perfectly fine. i have not had the issue again? any ideas.

That sounds like an issue with the deck screen itself going bad or glitching. If it was still playing then the audio is functioning corectly just the display portion that had the problem. Once you restarted it the glitch went away. Sounds logical to me at least.

I got to thinking I might have blown a fuse. I discovered there were a couple uncovered wires fused together back there! Capped those off but some might have touched others and cabloo-ey. I hope a fuse will wix the speedo too, or I'll have to replace the unit/pull the cluster.

If you are referring to this deck

you likely have a bad "Ribbon Cable" which is what connects the face to the body of the deck.

Bummer, dewd. Should be under warranty, maybe?

              Good luck!

                Figured out my problem! :)

Went poking around in the fuse box and found two blown fuses. Used the spares that were sitting right there and not only did my Ignition power start working again but the speedo did as well! Easy as pie! Subwoofer install complete!

Subwoofers sound great and crisp. Need to line the car w/ something though.

Luke, what would you consider the best bang for $$ on insulation? Planning on lining the trunk, behind all of the door cards, and probably under the rear seat as well.

i would put that stuff all over my car, first by stripping the interior and then laying multiple layers of it everywhere you see metal. you'd be surprised with the results.

That's what I'm going for - a nice, quiet interior. I'll put that stuff as many places as I can if I can find it cheap enough.
