    new HU/sub issues

Just got the Panasonic 7413, wired it up neatly, had the radio going no porbs.

Then I went to hook back up my sub/amp, I put it back the exact same way I had it before but I couldnt get any bass.(before it was run off the rear speakers, i now have a sub pre-out)

Then I was messing around with the amp power connection(remote), the wire kept slipping out a few times as it was kind of cumbersome with me crammed in my trunk, and the amp was turning on and off a few times. Well then the front speakers stopped getting sound, nothing. The HU was still on, and even my amp was on, but nothing. I checked the fuse in the HU and it was fine. Any ideas?

EDIT: After a couple of hours the sound is back in the front, but still no sub.

The speakers are all on HU power correct ? And the only thing currently connected to the amplifier is the subwoofer correct ?

Verify if the amp is getting power (does it have an LED to indicate when it's on ?) . Did you your headunit to 3 pairs of RCA cables? Try connecting another power to the subwoofer amp and see if you get any sound. If you do, then maybe your headunit has some kind of "subwoofer pre-out ON/OFF" switch in it's menu...

Aaron, let me get this straight...you have sound from all 4 speakers but not the sub, correct?

Is this the same on CD and radio?

If you have bass on radio but NOT on CD, you connected the amps remote wire to the power antenna output instead of the amp remote output.

In other words, the white wire from your car needs to go to the blue on the deck, and the blue/white goes to the amp.

Blue will go dead when in CD or AUX modes.

      HTH,
      Luke

Jean you are correct, amp is on but no bass. Luke, i have the blue blue/white issue correct with the amp, and all is the same w/ radio or CD. Before, my kenwood unit was using rear output for my sub(so when I faded front, no bass), but now I have sub pre out w/ the 7413, does that make a difference? I will try diferent RCA and sub turn on perhaps.

So this is weird, I cant get any sub action, and I was messing around trying a different set of RCA that I put in there and still doesnt work, but as I was plugging them in I found that if I just touch one RCA to the metal on the outside of the preout the sub works!? It doesnt sound great but its getting something. But as i said when I fully plug them in, nothing. What gives here?

Dead deck? Does it work on front or rear preouts?

well I just found out it does work on the front and rear pre outs. I guess SW is the only one that doesnt work. The unit was a refurb, perhaps its bad. Goddamnit, why cant anything be simple!!!:hitler:

Yeah, but it is just a setting on the sub level, as shown on page 28 of his manual.

That was my first thought, too.

Hey Aaron, is there a chance that you connected your amp to the AUX inputs? I think I made the same mistake maybe like 184 times...

                  Lets hope, right?

no dice, everything works except the SW pre out. I also turned up the SW setting and everything to make sure it was 'on". Unless anyone has any other ideas I guess I'll get started on returning it. I dont want to send back the wiring harness though as I spent a lot of time soldering all the speaker wires and making it neat. I guess thats what I get for buying a refurbished deck!
