    DAMNED alternator!

Im trying to replace the alternator in my 1991 318i, m42. I got a valeo from a kid locally, and apparently its the wrong one, the one in my car is a Bosch, but I need to know if its a 80a, 90a, or 65a... How do I know this? Is it somewhere on the alternator? I need to get this car on the road before the weeks over!

JUST RESEARCHED IT A BIT. Got the part number off the alternator itself and put it in BMA... they're giving me an INTERCHANGABLE PART, Valeo and Bosch. The one I got is a Valeo, the one in the car is Bosch... But the one in my car has an extra little thing on it, a voltage regulator I think... the Valeo doesnt. If I just put it in and see if it works, what can it hurt?

they should both have voltage regulators-

If you have the correct Valeo partnumber that corresponds to what BMA is telling you, you should be good.

saved by Jordan. It should fit he says

Addissimo, thanks for that, but the Valeo I got is remanufacture with no part number on it. It all looks the same though aside from the regulator
