    Removing Stock Headunit

Well, I didn't see it here, so I didn't think it would hurt to ask.

I know the two little plastic things open up, then what? I wanna take this out and see if I can fix this scratchy volume knob.

    Thanks.

hey, yea, i'm in the same bind, my stock deck is also making the scratchy noise. From what i've read online, you need the "special" bimmer tool, which is basically a pentagon shaped allen wrench tool. If some1 has a trick on how to remove it without buying the tool, i'd really appreciate the tip.

I removed mine with an allen wrench. Just find an allen wrench that is close to fitting. You can probably borrow a radio removal tool from your local dealership for free. I have also done this on a few occasions.

I have a few allen wrenches and some of those star shaped screw drivers. I'll see what I can do.

I'll let you all know how it works out.
