no evidence is shown of an alarm. And its supposed to be a ground all the time until the starter cranks then when it stops its supposed to go back to a ground but it didn't. I tested 12volts.

the wire that went to the starter for the ground if it gets grounded manually then everything works the relays do react. I just kept that wire grounded because the main reason why it turns off everything else is so all the power goes to starting the car. When money is free I'll prob pick up a new solenoid

How do you start your car then? What wire "tells" the solenoid to engage from the key?

the signal wire from the ignition is a separate wire from the power to the relays. in the picture u can't see the ignition signal wire

black green is the wire that grounds the relay, black yellow is the ignition signal, and the other ones are for alt and power dis.

Ah! Just for a laugh, connect the relay ground to the same terminal on the starter that goes to the key, the black/yel wire. Someone DID replace your starter at one point in time, and wired it wrong. Most newer solenoids add another switch in that picture, so it would be open at the black/grn wire unless craning, where it would be connected as shown.

Bet everything will work as designed once you connect black/green and black/yellow to the same spot black/yellow is connected currently.

                just to bump this up.
Previous owner had replaced the starter on my 88 and the windows and AC blower would only run if the switch was in the on position, but not after the car was started.
after putting the 2 wires back together and on the bottom terminal of the starter, everything works perfect.
