OK, so I have a Pioneer AVIC N2. The 5 year old maps piss me off...as does Pioneer, who told us industry insiders that new maps would be free updates...yeah right.
However, the whole idea of not being able to change destinations or do a location search while moving REALLY pissed me off, so I searched around and found a hack.
Here is the deal: If you connect the two points on the circuit board, it will allow changing destinations while moving. So, flip the deck over onto its back. Find the little silver label:

Now peel off the silver label and set it aside. You will see 2 tiny solder points, like this, labeled "R197":

Take a thin wire and separate a few strands. Apply solder to them so they are easier to work with:

Now with solder:

Now CAREFULLY apply this bit of wire to the board and solder it in, like this:

This gory mess is what came out...possibly the ugliest solder joint in my life, but I was not willing to temp fate and try to fix it:

After a quick reinstall, I now have the ability to use my damn Nav deck how I want to.
Oh yeah, and about that map software? I have never ever heard of the pirate bay, nor did I ask my kid how to torrent...
