    Pioneer TS-SW2541D amp recommendation

Just got one Pioneer TS-SW2541D 10" 4-ohm Shallow Subwoofer, and was wondering if anyone had any experience/opinions to share about it...what kind of amp would you recommend? Not looking to bump, just a clean full bass.

Please do not expect much in the way of performance out of that woofer. I have installed several and have only been impressed once...and that was 4 of them in a regular cab Ford F150...that thing rocked.

What I would recommend is a basic 4 channel amp with variable high pass and low pass crossovers. The cheapest I know of is the Sony at WalMart for $100, but there are certainly better out there. Use the front 2 channels for the front speakers and the other 2 channels for the subwoofer. Your whole system will sound better for doing this.

Of course, the better the amp the better the sound.

It was a Christmas gift from my girlfriend, so I'll make the best of it. I had talked about needing a subwoofer, and wanting a compact one so as to save trunk space, so I'm pretty stoked to get just that. It may not sound like the best models, but I don't want all that much bass anyway...I could grab another one of them and have a twin set-up, but again I'm not really needing that much bass. What sorta wattage do you recommend if I'm powering both the sub and the front 4 speakers with one amp? I was thinking of custom building a box similar to this one and placing it behind the back seat at the back of the trunk (not in the seat as pictured)...what do you think?

Is this the Sony you were talking about?

Yes, that is the Sony. Keep in mind it makes about 120 watts, RMS on 2 of the channels (4 ohm mono) and the other 2 channels are not even bridgeable, and make about 15 watts per channel.

The difference between 1 and 2 subs is really pretty minimal...generally about 3db.

If you are on a budget, you should be able to find a decent deal on a simple 4 channel amp damn near any pawn shop, certainly under $100.

I carry one I like a lot for $200 retail.
