    questions about rewiring premium e30

    Well.... looks like the PO did some ass-inside-out job of wiring my car's audio... check these pics... is that an amp? and those wires in my hand are supposed to be going to an amp? That little black box was right behind the antenna mast... so I assume it might be an amp, but the colors of the wires doesn't match...

    so 16gauge wire will be sufficient enough? also, I can use the stock live/ignition/ground right?

          Nice diagram. Saved a copy for future reference. :)

          EDIT: 12 is the left-right balance knob on the dash.

                              That little black box is your check control relay, not related to the stereo system at all

                                  yeah, I figured that lol... I just wired them up directly from the HU and got external amp connections out to trunk

                                          Basically what someone did is remove the stock amp from the stereo circuit. So instead of HU->Amp->Speakers, it's just HU->Speakers. It's kind of a ghetto way of installing an aftermarket HU, but it works I guess. I would just rewire the whole mess.

                                              I will be running an amp, so I was trying to figure out the: Illumination, Hot, Remote to power ant, and switched hot.
