    Windown Antenna

I've been looking for a Radio antenna that mounts in the window, I know my friend had the factory one in his E36 325is but I can't seem to find any like that. Any ideas?

How much do you care about the performance?

I'm actually wondering the same thing. I've shaved door locks and windshield sprayers, the antenna hole is calling to be eliminated too. Though, I do actually want a functional radio, so a good performing antenna would be great.

Luke, I'm guessing you're the guy to ask about this.

I'm not sure I know which antenna you are talking about. I was considering doing a "shark fin" like the newer 3's have, but not sure how it would look. Never seen one on an e30. Anyone else?

Aaron, the "Shark Fin" is intended for satellite radio.

I have a decent amplified window antenna available. They are like $30, intended for boats. Decent performance, but not as good as a stock E30 power antenna.

I will see if I can get a picture, but next week is CES, so all of my normal contacts are in Vegas.

oh... I wonder if there is any way to modify it to do both sat and am/fm?

There is this style that just stick to your window (usually the windshield behind the rear-view mirror). Not sure how well they work though.

Same one...BTW, AutoLoc does not make anything, they are a marketing company only.

You could put an M3 antenna on it, they look good and the reception is probably as good as any other e30.

Yeah I'm not too worried about reception actually, and I don't want to do an M3 antenna considering that would require more holes in my car. It'd just be nice to have it sometimes, I have my iPod that I listen to all the time now but I was looking for something to have a little bit of radio. Thanks for the suggestions.

Well, I'm using a hershman antenna amplifier and the rear glass heater for an antenna.

Oddly enough it works very well.
