Best way to route wire remote and speaker wire?

I'm putting in a JL audio 10w1 in my e30. I'm using a SPL 400w Amp. Since the battery is in the back the power wire and ground should be pretty straight forward. So all I ready need to know to whats the best way to route the Remote and Speaker wire to the head unit? Thanks

umm, easily - Threw the rear firewall, under the rear seat, under center counsels up middle of dash to the radio...

"Properly" - Threw the wiring gasket in rear firewall, down the driver side of the rear seat (follow the wires) then when you get under the dash (as the fusing block, run across and find the factory radio harness. Then follow that to the radio area.

not sure why you'd want to route speaker wire back to the head unit? is this stereo not after market? if its a after market deck it should have RCA's i would hope. jparkr's "properly" idea is best. don't forget to knock out the ski pass though while you have the rear seat out.

He must be talking about RCA's. Though, I don't know why you'd want to route the wires through the firewall...

You are talking about the remote wire for the amp to turn it on, correct? Or a remote for the amp to control volume?

Through the dash, to the left or right kick panel, pull the front of the door seal, stuff it in, run it along the rockers all the way back, up the back seat through the back. Done.

Wait, you mean through the dash like from the back of the deck through the dash, not through the firewall and through the dash, right?

The head unit is aftermarket its a brand new Sony with integrated bluetooth. I mean the remote wire as in for it to turn it on, and speaker wire or RCAs to control volume and such. Also whats a ski pass? and how hard is the back seat to take out?

                First car?

Its easy, pull up on the bottom seat to remove it. Then you will see two bolts holding in the back rest on each side of the seat. Undo them, bend in the tabs alittle so you dont rip your rear panels, pull towards you and then push up alittle.

The ski hole plate is the big plate in the middle of the rear firewall.

Yeah, as in signal cables...these guys should have known, they is just busting your balls. RCAs and remote turn on wire. On your Sony, make sure you are using the correct turn on, there are two.

Behind your rear seat is a hole in the trunk, but it has a cover that needs to be broken out, like this:

The bottom half simply pulls up...yank hard! Look on either side of the seat, way at the back, under a flap, on the side walls...you will see a 10mm bolt. Pull it and lift up on the seat. You will see the pass through

It's a MEX-BT2500. If you have a newer phone that has a media player on it, its pretty handy Instead of burning a CD or using the AUX cable all you have to is connect it threw bluetooth and it plays away, quality is pretty decent to. When someone calls the music fades out, it rings and you answer and just talk. Fairly handy. Yes this is my first car..

OK I took the head unit out and got this. No RCA hook ups. Where do I hook up the speaker and remote wire now? My dad wants me to take it to circuit city and they quoted me 75 dollars because it was a BMW, I really don't feel like grabbing my ankles and letting circuit city rape me and would much rather do it myself.

Are there any RCA's on the wiring harness that plugs into the radio?

I can't believe that there is a radio out there with Bluetooth, but not at least 1 pair of RCA's...

Thats what I said, i was going to put a Dual flip-up screen head-unit in it but my dad bought me the the sony head unit for christmas also, so I really don't wanna hurt his feelings by taking it out. It does have hi level inputs actually.

Sweet, you dont need to get a converter then. Pull out the rear speakers, splice some wires in to those wires and run them to the high level input of your amp.
