HU code worked before, not now?

MY e34 has a stock hu with a 6 disc changer. When I got the car, it had been in heated storage for a year. bought a new battery, put the code in the radio and it worked fine.

had the neg off the battery for 4 days while I did some work. put it back on, now the code doesn't work. I turn it on, it says "code." i put in "14642," same code that worked 2 other times before. it beeps on the last hit, so I know its in right.

    any ideas?

Mine does that all the time, wait 1 hour with the key on, then try it again.

hmm. any other options? I live in the city, can't really leave the key in it for an hour lol. also don't drive more than 15 minutes, maybe 20 tops at a time.

Your gonna need to try the hour thing. Time to go for a long drive on some nice back roads.

Sometimes, it kind of hit or miss with my radio.

if you enter the code incorrectly 3 or 5 times in a row, the radio will go in "Lockout" mode, which requires the key to be on, for an hour uninterrupted. After that hour, you are able to re-enter the code correctly. I would double check and make sure you have the correct radio code before you try it again. PM me if you need any help.

Ive been thinking of wiring a small rechargeable 12v battery inline with the radio power so this doesn't happen to me again.
