    Are these VIFAs any good?

I'm not too familiar with VIFA drivers, but I was wondering if anybody know anything about these:

    Thanks,

For the price, Vifas drivers are good. I own some PLs 7" drivers. I no longer use them because they sound a bit muddy, also i wanted more power to my comps. I'm hardcore SQ, i like drivers that sound snappy. My vifas hit hard, and provided great mid bass, sounds best with rap and other rock type of music, but a little muddy on instrumental music. So yeah for the price they can't be beat. Check out www.partsexpress.com they sell alot of Vifa products also. If you looking for a pair of speakers for cheap and are good sounding, vifas will do. If your looking for great clean sound maybe check out "SEAs" but they are a bit pricey.O yeah, and they look really well built.

I'm planning on pieceing together a 3-way system at the end of the Summer. I want to get some 1" tweeters (possibly some dual-concentrics) with some 5.25" midrange and some 8" illusion audios for midbass in the front.

I've pretty much decided on the Illusion Audio 8s for the front, but I'm still up in the air on the mid-range and tweeters. I'd like to be able to put the tweeters in the stock A-pillar pods because I find the imaging is great with the placement there.

I also haven't decided whether or not I want to keep the 5.25" midrange in the stock location or put it in a door pod with the 8" woofer.

      Any thoughts?

I think it would sound best if you had your mid in kicks along with your tweeter, and have the 8 in the door pod. I have kicks right now, they are not perfect because some kicked them while i was making them, also that pair was for my old auto, i'm going to make another set because i need to accompdate room for the clutch now., when done right, it rocks, the sound stage is all on the dash, and the sound will exceed the physical limits of the car. The reason why i say leave the mids out of the doors is because it brings the mids too close to you, unless your tweets could pull the sound stage away from you again. The sound, will sound like it's coming from the side, although the tone of the music might sound good still, it will not sound like the music is infront of you. Really, the tweets sound best in the A-pillars, i got to check this out. How are they positioned in the A pillars?

its going to take a pretty big door pod to mount an 8 and a 5.25 ken.

Do you really think the mid should stay in the stock location? I think putting a larger speaker in the door is going to kill leg room.

I didn't start my pod for my 4 inch speaker yet but perhaps i'll look into fitting the 6.5 in the door. the problem is, my seat is the whole way up so i don't have much room to work with.

I was thinking of putting the mids into kickpods, but I'm affraid of people (ie my gf) kicking their foot through my speaker. That, and I'm not skilled enough with fiber-glass to make kickpods. Spud, do you have any pictures of yours?

The 8" mid-bass woofer I'll be using is made by illusion audio, and has a VERY small mounting depth:

sweet ken, that is a small mounting depth

yeah my stupid friends would kick that shit too. I think i am going to stick with my orginal plan...i think fiberglass could be done if you say put plastic over the exiisting one to get the shape of it, then went backwards with it somehow. then modify from there. Its hard to say though. custom kick panels would be sweet
