undoing a wire tap? gauge question

I ran power to my oil temp/pressure and voltmeter today, from the lighter. Only problem is that now my voltmeter is always on (any likely the rest of the gauges).

Any suggestions on how to remove the tap? I guess I will run power to the window control switches instead.

unhook it and tape over it

or if theres enough slack you can unhook it cut the wire solder it back together and heat shrink over it
