    pricing question

Ok, my friend and I are into installing stereo equipment and building sub boxes, and whenever we do installs we usually dont ask for cash, just beer or other odds and ends, and i'm too lazy to ask shops what their pricing usually is, but i just wanted to know what the going rate for installing like HU's and subs is. Either hourly, or by the job.

I was thinking like 200 for installing a new HU, wiring the car, building a custom box and hooking everything up. Its being done on an e36 m3, and he wants to pay cash...

Does that sound reasonable? or is something more like 100 better?

Is he paying for the materials for the box? MDF isn't cheap.

I'd charge AT LEAST $200; it's going to take you 3-5 hours to do a proper install.

that sounds good to me. It would cost at least $300 (probably a fair amount more) plus materials for a place like Car Toys, etc. to do a custom box and all that other work. I think $200 is fair for a friend, if he insist on cash.
