I had my radio setup to where you do not need the key to play the radio. Then I added some new front speakers 6.5, and removed the broken glove box, and then that's when weird things started happening. Usually the dome light turns on when I open the door. Now the problem is my radio is tripping to where there is no more memory, dome light only works when you put the key in the ignition, and now my check light is blinking once again. I am not sure what happened. Can any1 trouble shoot this. Did I do something wrong? The radio works fine, just no memory. I always have to reset the stations and that is not cool. What color is the wire used for the memory? Is there any alternate wire?

The memory wire should be an always hot wire. Is your radio stock or aftermarket? If aftermarket, the wire on the headunit side is usually yellow. Stock? I'm not sure what the color is. -
It's a Kenwood aftermarket. Well, it was working the way that I wanted it too until I threw in my 6.5" new speakers in the front. All of a sudden my check light came back on, the dome light did not work until I keyed the ignition, and I could only turn on the radio with the key in as well. I might have some wires touching or something. I will take out the speakers again and do them over. It would have nothing to do with disconnecting the glove box right? I dunno, I just got irritated with the fact that my memory is always needs to be reset.
btw, I have a purple and red wire with a black box connected to it. Maybe there is a fuse int there that went out. Ill check that too.

I figured it out from someone on e30tech.com. Check #21 fuse, which was burnt and I must have shorted wires when I removed the glove box. Problem solved.Comment
