    Windshield Wiper Issues

My windshield wipers do not return to rest, they 'rest' halfway on the windshield. When I turn them on it seems that they like to go down before they go up. I've forced them to rest in the proper area and the passenger side wiper goes beyond the vent trying to go to the engine bay before going up and staying halfway on my windshield. Is this just a windhsield wiper motor (like I need to buy a new one?)I hope this make sense, if you need more information ask and I'll try to explain more. Please help as its rainy out here in NY and its going to be all weekend

You may need to tighten the nut. If the splines are rounded, the old Volvo trick is to wrap some sandpaper around the stud before reattaching the arm.

It sounds like your wiper linkage isn't properly clocked to the motor. If so, you'll need to take off the firewall shield and reset the linkage to the motor. Not too difficult, but a pain in the ass. You might need to take out the blower motor to get a hand in to the wiper motor.

I'm having the exact same problem with the 325e I just acquired. Looks as if the previous owner had someone replace the wiper motor recently, I thought it might have been wired wrong but now I am almost sure it has to do with the linkage.

Hoping not to take the blower motor out, but might as well since its acting crazy anyways. No wonder there were no fuses for either in the box.

Thanks for the insight on removing the firewall shield. I'll look into this tomorrow and hopefully I can have some more info for the original poster.

Ehhhh, not a fun job (even after the millionth time it's hard).

You can get to the motor drive with out taking the whole shootin match apart.
