Complete Trunk Audio Install (pic heavy)

A few of you were asking about my trunk install... so here it is. 1 12" Alpine Type R, 1 Performance Teknique ICBM-Digital monoblock amp, and 1 Performance Teknique 779 4 channel amp. I know off brand amps... but they've served me very well now for 2 years. I'd recommend them to anyone. Digital voltmeter recessed into the battery cover, which is covered in matching carpet. Spare tire has a hinged cover which lifts up for full spare access. Jack and wheel chocks are all accessible. Need a grill for the sub to make it fully functional so I can throw crap back there. Inside I just completed some fiberglass pods for the doors. Not the prettiest things in the world... but not bad for my first fiberglass attempt. They sound great which is all that matters...

good execution, different from my tastes in what is wanted from a subwoofer (I'm more of a 1 10 in a sealed box guy) but you're doing your thing

I'm curious why you didn't put the voltmeter in the cabin?

And you STILL have more trunk space than an E36/8 M Coupe (j/k).

Great custom work. I really hope you never get a flat, though. If you do, hopefully you have (or know someone with) a truck, with a spare wheel/tire for you permanently in it (jack and tools, too), available at your beckon call!!!

I have full access to the spare, jack, lug wrench, and wheel chocks should I need them. The spare tire has a hinged door over it and lifts up... see pics.

^If I had a fold down seat, I would have done a single 12" sealed enclosure setup.

Looks purty. Mind if I ask how much all of that weighs?

Very nice. I did see the hinge, but didn't put the two together. Good stuff.

Where did you get that carpet? It looks very nice, and I need to refresh mine...

George, my boxes (the group buy ones) are a tiny bit larger by the looks of things, they weigh 40 pounds, empty. With subwoofer and amp, they can be made to weigh less than the 57 pounds(*) of sound deadning that came in the trunk.

My sub/box/2 amps weighs about 65 pounds, or about the same as a dead hooker in these parts (meth is harsh, man)

*Jordo said the deadning weighs 57 pounds on his '87 325is. I just threw the shit out. I don't care about what it weighs, if you heard the system in my car, you would not care either.

I see. 50-60 lbs is not a big deal to me. It's just then the MDF covered floor and amp rack seem to start to really push it - weight wise.

1.7ft*3 is where I ended up.

Luke was about right on the box. ~37lbs emtpy, ~60lbs loaded, and the whole setup amps, amp rack, box, and floor are probably about 100lbs total.

I don't ever worry about "real time" voltage. I just use the voltmeter to gauge battery and alternator health really. When the car is off it's ~12.2v. With it on and radio off it's ~13.4. With radio pounding it fluctuates between 13.2 and 12.4 or thereabouts.
