    1990 si board batteries

i just got a 1990 325is and the tachometer and mpg gauge do not work. I want to replace the si board batteries but my car has an airbag. Do i have to take the steering wheel off? because if i dont it would make this a whole lot easier. If i do how do i take it off without blowing the airbag?

    thanks

just pull the allens out of the back of the wheel. ones on the left and ones on the right. Then just simply unplug the bag. Loosen the steering wheel nut and your done.

Or torx's shown where the red arrow points in each picture. A 22mm socket and extension will be needed to break the nut loose that holds the wheel on. Also for good measure disconnect your battery to keep the airbag from deploying.
