    Help sorting wires under dash

How do I get rid of this? alarm?

My power locks just went out and was wondering if anything is out of place under my dash. I know nothing about electronics. When I turn the key to lock, I hear a click. THanks.

Typical shit install, but should not affect your lock system.

The 2 relays behind your speaker run the door locks from the alarm. They basically duplicate the signal from the door, so if no go on the locks, start investigating there.

What you described sounds like a failed "Central Locking Module"

Can the central lock module be fixed or just find used and replace? Thanks.

Yeah, find used and replace. Common water (and damn near 20 years of car life) issue.

If you need any help yanking that alarm out, LMK, OK?

Thanks. Where exactly is the central locking module located so I can tell my seller where to look?

fourth picture, you see the speaker circle? its right under there. It looks like you are missing a screw that is holding it. That install looks pretty bad... I would just rip the whole thing out and even if I were to reuse it, I rewire the whole thing and clean it up.

Ok, thats where I put George Graves auto dimming module. I think I tucked the central lock module right behind it. I also read that the wire harness at the door gets corroded so I'll check that out too. Ill post pics later tonight.

So I checked things out today. I read this harness usually has problems with rust so pulled out and seems clean enough

Also took this video while my friend manually turned the key. All I heard was a click. Same thing happened when I pushed down on the door knob.

before I replace the central lock module what else should I check?

it clicked? did it try to lock the door? and couldnt or did it just click like nothing is connected to it? test it with a friends central locking first before you go out and get one.

Yeah clicks like its trying to lock but doesn't. What else should I check if I don't have a spare central lock handy?

Check the output voltage, both power and ground coming from the module.

You can do this at the passenger door.

Go into the boot at the door jamb, test the blue and white wires. Both should have ground when "resting" one or the other should switch to +12V while attempting to lock.

If you have your central lock module out, the wires are there, too.

Check the larger red wire at the module. I can't remember if the red powers both the module and the locks, but they might be separate.

These modules are fairly failure prone after damn near 20 years...

my point was that if it clicks and it engages the locks but doesn't actually lock the door it could be the alarm system acting up. I would unground the alarm, and unplug it then try to see if the central lock would work without the interference of the alarm.
